NAMI Nevada Heads to Washington DC
Members of NAMI Northern Nevada, Southern Nevada and Western Nevada marched on Capitol Hill June 29th along with 2,000 other NAMI members to advocate for a health care bill that supports access to mental health services. The day of advocacy was part of the NAMI National Convention held in Washington DC, June 28- July 1, 2017.
The group met with Senators Catherine Cortez-Masto and Dean Heller and shared their experiences of living with and being affected by mental illness.
Staff with House of Representatives Jackie Rosen and Dina Titus also met with the Nevada delegation.
Although this mission was serious there were some chuckles along the way, and some sweet treats on the hot and humid Washington summer day. Every Nevada House and Senate office had ice cream! Good Humor ice cream brands have plants in Nevada!
